In a keenly fought contest for the world’s top job, Republican Donald Trump came out winner in the US Presidential elections by defeating Democrat Hillary Clinton. Trump will be 45th President of the United States of America. Trump’s victory ends eight years of Democratic rule in the White House.
The Republican nominee won on Wednesday after capturing Wisconsin’s 10 electoral votes, putting him over the 270 threshold. The battlegrounds of Florida, Ohio and North Carolina cleared the way for his Brexit-style upset.
Addressing his supporters after victory in his acceptance speech, Donald Trump said that he would be the President of all Americans.
President elect Trump said, America will no longer settle for anything less than the best. He said, Americans must dream big and bold.
Trump congratulated Hillary for a hard fought campaign and called for binding the wounds and come together as one united people.
Trump thanked his family members for their support in realising the dream to be president of US.
President elect Trump retained Republican territory, including Georgia, Arizona and Utah. He also prevailed in Iowa, which has not elected a Republican since 2004.
Trump will take office in January with Congress fully under Republican control as Democrats were unable to wrest power of the Senate in Tuesday’s general election.
