USA : Hindu Temple of Rochester in Pittsford (New York, USA) is celebrating its “re-consecration”
Auspicious Maha Kumbhabhishekam celebrations from June 8-12 will reportedly include havans, pujas, utsavam, homam, cow-worship, music-dance-sankirtan programs, etc.; and concluding with Maha Poornahuthi. Priests from Canada, USA, and India will reportedly participate in the celebrations, which will involve 1008 Kalashas and specially constructed eight havan kunds of different geometric designs.
Meanwhile, Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Connecticut (USA) today, applauded efforts of Temple management and New York state and surrounding area community for this auspicious event at the wonderful Hindu temple complex.Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, further said that it was important to pass on Hindu spirituality, concepts and traditions to coming generations amidst so many distractions in the consumerist society and hoped that these Temple activities would help in this direction. Zed stressed that instead of running after materialism; we should focus on inner search and realization of self and work towards achieving moksh (liberation), which was the goal of Hinduism.
Seshavadhani Kumar, Bal Narang, Lakshmi Rao, and L.V. Govind are President, Vice President, Secretary and Priest respectively of the Temple.
Town of Pittsford was incorporated in 1827. Notable people associated with it include supermodel Tyson Beckford, Jazz drummer Steve Gadd, musician Teddy Geiger, baseball player Mike Jones, football player Adam Podlesh. William A. Carpenter and Sandra F. Zutes are Town Supervisor and Deputy Supervisor respectively.
