INDIANAPOLIS, NOV 19 : The mission of the Indianapolis Parks Foundation is to enhance the recreational, educational and cultural life of the Indianapolis community by encouraging and soliciting support for our city’s park system.
Indy Parks offers Indy residents designated sledding hills at eight parks across Indianapolis. General sledding tips are available online to be ready for fun on the hill. If someone is looking for something a little warmer, Perry Ice Rink is continuing to provide Indy with healthy winter fun, according to Indy Parks newsletter.

SUPPORT STAFF POSITIONS: After School Support Staff positions are available immediately through Mid-May 2015. This outreach coordinator position involves working with children, homework assistance and leading activities such as sports, crafts along with literacy and science programs. Candidates should be be prepared to work 15-18 hours per week from 3:00 PM – 6:30 PM.
PACK THE PANTRIES: The office of the Mayor’s Front Porch Alliance, along with Mayor Ballard, is encouraging all to participate in the annual Pack the Pantries tradition, supporting the 2014 Indy hunger relief efforts of Gleaner and Midwest Food Banks.
Collection bins located at the local Indy Parks Family centers will be available now through December 10.
For every dollar donated our food bank partners can provide three meals to families and children in need. All donations benefit the food bank partners Gleaners and Midwest who will distribute donations in need. “We have the opportunity to make a big difference by sending donations to be multiplied by our partners!,” informed the Indy Parks news letter.

KNOW THE EMPLOYEE BETTER: Indy Parks will continue to feature an Indy Parks’ employee to know about him/her better. This November meet Jeffery Smith, park manager at Brookside Park. Jeff was raised in South Bend and was quite the athlete at LaSalle High School. He played football and basketball and he also threw shot-put!
He attended Vincennes University and then decided to walk on as a football player at Indiana State University. Jeff graduated from ISU, with a Sports Management Degree, making the first in his family to finish college.
He has since added a Master’s degree in Education! Jeff enjoys spending time with his family that includes his wife and two young sons, and they attend Promise Place Ministries together regularly.
Fun Facts:
Huge Notre Dame, Pacers and Colts fan. Only eats his French fries with mayonnaise on the side and never received a spanking from parents (so we are to believe he is an angel or he was really fast?)
