The 6th Edition of Festival of India at Buenos Aires.
By Mariela Govea* : Once a year Buenos Aires celebrates milenary Indian culture and traditions. This event, the 6 th edition of the Festival of India lasts ten days. It is run at Centro Cultural Borges, mainly, and also, at some other spots of the city. It is expected a a great amount of visitors and lovers and fans of India until November the 24 th.
Acompassed by flowing indian music and dances,-both classical and contemporary- it ´s a wonderful opportunity for showing locals the grandeur of indian culture.
There will be yoga classes; ayurveda, gastronomy; & tourism workshops; sports;mendhi ceremonial drawings; a cinema festival; literature, dances, a photo exhibition and artisans working live.
Last but not least there are also a lot of shops where visitors can buy jewels, clothes, accessories, shoes, decorative objects and more.
Argentina is already a huge market for indian handicrafts and still has a great potential of increasing its exportations due to the excellent manufacture of indian handicrafts and their competitive prices.

This festival is also an opportunity o celebrate intercultural crosses. One of the most famous of all times encounters was argentine ´s writer Victoria Ocampo and
Rabinadrath Tagore ´s friendship. A lecture will be organized about this topic, also. Another case of this literary and culturalcross is worldly reknowned and rewarded argentine writer and essayist Jorge Luis Borges ´s vision of India, and lately, Bollywood and our Tango dance.
Besides the mesmerizing indian beauty of the fair, something remarkable is that this edition this festival is specially dedicated to Women.
