Toronto:Kiran Bedi, first woman Indian Police officer and Magsaysay Award winner, said that Indians should bring in the good values into Canada and forget their own differences. She was speaking at the 3rd Parvasi Award Night 2008 in Woodbine Banquet Hall, Rexdale, Toronto where she was the chief guest. Parvasi Media Group is a leading Punjabi Media organization in Canada. Parvasi Newspaper is the recipient of ‘Peel Regional Police 2006 Media Award for Best Ethnic Newspaper’. Within a very short span of time it has become one of the most credible Punjabi newspaper in Canada. Apart from publishing a Parvasi weekly newspaper, the group also run a Radio Show on CJMR-1320 and monthly Magazine.Parvasi Media Group took the initiative of starting first Punjabi Parvasi Award Show in 2005. It has become an annual feature now and we organize a big ceremony in Toronto to honor prominent Punjabi personalities who have excelled in different spheres of life. Winners of these awards are selected on the basis of Public opinion and recommendation of a committee of experts.
This years Awards in various categories were given for the achievements in the sphere of Social Service to Raghubir Singh, Artiste award to Jarnail Singh, best businessman award went to Sukhdev Toor, Special award to Dr. Kulbir Singh Thind, Award of Environment to Raj Jhajh, Sports award to Mr. Rocky Sekhon, Youth award to Guru Gobind Singh Childrens foundation, Literature award to Ravinder Ravi, and a Life Time Achievement Award was presented to Dr Raghubir Singh Bains.
