Dr. Avnish Jolly, Toronto, Canada, Sunday, March 8th, 2015 : It was beautiful sunny morning looked like nature was permitting KC Group to celebrate Holi Rang Barse, 2015 in National Banquet Hall, Mississauga, Ontario with highest of zeal and enthusiasm. Around 500 witnessed the Holi festival. The colors signify new beginnings and unity. Another theme of the festival is the triumph of good over evil. Its name comes from Holika, a demoness who was burned to death by the forces of good.
One more aspect is to encourage feelings of brotherhood and friendship without any discrimination and to remove the feelings of hatred and bitterness if happened in past….perfect way of heading towards the betterment of society. Like in India, all religions, races and ages are welcome to celebrate Holi.
KC Group, community based organization started fourteen years ago with a small group of people with objectives to maintain Indian heritage and keep the culture alive for future generation while living far away from India. With the result of showcasing in past several years, the festivals Holi and Diwali have become so popular that can be seen celebrating by many other organizations and amazingly children are getting familiar with Indian culture and festivals and started knowing different aspects and reasons.
Among VIPs, Chief Guest, Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie and Guest of Honor, Ontario PC Leader contestant, Patric Brown had not only shown their presence but enjoyed the show for quite a period of Although, Mississauga Mayor had very busy schedule because of International Women’ day but she gave the speech and appreciated KC Group and recognized by giving the “Certificate of Leadership”. Apart from fun and frolic with social aspects, Holi is also celebrated to welcome spring. One day before offerings are done to God with thankfulness during the Holikadehen(Holika Fire) with religious aspect.
Along with the flinging of colored powder, dancing is a big part of the festival. In this function a growing throng shimmied to Bollywood music while clouds of color enveloped them. Young and old alike swayed to the catchy beat.
