LUDHIANA, January 11: Amarpreet Singh Aulakh has been appointed as president of the Indian National Oversees Congress for Ontario and Quebec in Canada.
The appointment orders were issued by Dr Karan Singh, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Department of All India Congress Committee in New Delhi on January 1. Dr Singh hoped that Aulakh will represent the Congress in that country and build up the support base among the Non Resident Indians there.
Thanking Dr Singh, the Congress president Ms Sonia Gandhi, former Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh and former Union Minister Manish Tewari for providing him the opportunity to serve the party, Aulakh said, there was substantial support for the Congress party among the NRIs, particularly the Punjabis, settled in North America.
He said, he will facilitate better interface and interaction among the NRIs and the Congress party and build up the communication channels for further strengthening their bonds with the country of their origin.
