Religious leaders of northern Nevada belonging to various faith traditions are meeting Reno Mayor Robert A. Cashell to urge him to restart the tradition of invocation at the Reno City Council meetings.
Distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, who is leading this effort, says that many city/town councils in the country and Nevada reportedly open their meetings with an invocation; including Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, Sparks, Carson City and Boulder City.
Many religious leaders of the area have already signed the petition floated by Rajan Zed; who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism and Director Interfaith Relations of Nevada Clergy Association; to restart the invocation at Reno City Council meetings, which will be presented to Mayor Cashell on the occasion.
The meeting will be held at 10-00 am on Tuesday, November 12, in the Reno City Hall.
