16 Mar : Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, sending Holi greetings to one billion Hindus of the world, has urged them each to take a vow of helping the communities to shun the social evils.
Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, in a release in Nevada (USA) today, expressed warmest greetings on upcoming Holi; which falls on March 20 this year; wishing that it brought joy, happiness, blessings and cheer to all.
Rajan Zed quoted ancient Hindu scripture Bhagavad-Gita (Song of the Lord): Do your work with the well-being of others always in focus…Ignorant work for their own profit, enlightened act for the welfare of the world without any attachment.Zed also advised Hindus to focus on inner search, stay pure, explore the vast wisdom of scriptures, make spirituality more attractive to youth and children, stay away from the greed, and always keep God in your life.
Joie de vivre festival of Holi welcomes the beginning of spring and starts about ten days before the full moon of Phalguna. The ceremonies include the lighting of the bonfires, during which all evils are symbolically burnt. Holi also commemorates the frolics of youthful Lord Krishna; celebrates the death of demoness Putana, burning of demoness Holika, and destruction of Kama by Shiva.
