Madhup Yadav. Chandigarh. 25th February :Bindass mainly aims to target critical issues like Global Warming, Corruption and a host of others in the future by urging the youth of the country, to be the drivers of the change they want to see. The time has come for the youth of India to promote awareness among youth about the difference of their single Vote. In order to reach out to young Indians, UTV Bindass has launched today a movement Ungli Utha Bindass in which it would look at various issues that affect the youth of today like Global Warming, Corruption, etc, the first initiative under this movement is ‘Voting.’
Some shocking statistics led UTV Bindass to spearhead this particular initiative, keeping in mind that elections are around the corner:
· 30% of the total voting population is within the age group of 18-30 years
· 25% of this population are registered as Voters
· Off this base only 50% VOTE!
o This is JUST 12.5% of the Youth Voting Population Base
This 360° campaign movement across the country will educate and create awareness among the young Indians on the power of voting – exercising a basic fundamental right and create awareness about the importance of voting. India’s top youth icons, John Abraham has agreed to join hands with UTV Bindass for the I Change – India Changes movement. He also flagged off the Ungli Utha Bindass initiative through a road show.
A website www.bindass.tv/ichange, will provide a platform for Indians to voice their opinions and have relevant information regarding the elections like Know your Neta, wherein profiles of politicians are uploaded, interactive sections like videos, etc.
In order to seek involvement from the youth UTV will invite colleges from across 6 different cities of the country to present street plays on the initiative of ‘Voting’. The theatre festival has begun call for entries and over 70 colleges from across the country have confirmed participation. One finalist from each city would be selected and the winners will get a chance to express their views directly to the country’s Prime Minister!! A DVD of the winning performance will be shown exclusively to the PM. These 6 finalists would also get to showcase their skits to a panel of youth parliamentarians of the country.
