29 Apr : The occasion of World Dance Day is celebrated to commemorate the birthday of the famous French dancer and ballet master, Jean-Georges Noverre every year on the 29th of April.
Jean-Georges Noverre is considered to be the creator of ballet d’action, a precursor of the narrative ballets of the 19th century.

In India, on the occasion of World Dance Day, a three day festival is taking place at News Delhi’s India Habitat Centre where a film titled Ekalavya based on Kudiyattam dance style is being screened.
