Department of Radiodiagnosis & Imaging, PGIMER, Chandigarh is organizing a four days “2nd Hands on Workshop on Mammography & DEXA positioning” with Prof. N. Khandelwal as chairperson and Dr. S.C Bansal as organizing secretary. This is being held jointly with RAD-AID” International a non-profit public service organization from USA and Indian Association of Radiological Technologists from 17th September, 2013 to 20th September, 2013.
During these four days, 30 Radiographers/Radiological Technologists from the neighboring states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Union Territory of Chandigarh apart from PGIMER, Chandigarh and even from Nepal shall be attending this workshop. Eminent faculty of PGIMER, RAD-AID and IART shall be delivering lectures and providing hands on training to the participants. This workshop is aimed to train the radiological technologists working in the field of Radiodiagnosis & Imaging with the latest advances in mammography and DEXA scanning including advanced techniques of mammography and DEXA positioning.
They will also be given hands on training for the safe operation of these equipments to produce high quality images with minimum radiation dose to the patients and staff for yielding accurate diagnosis. This will help in detecting early cancer of breast and as well as osteoporosis in the bones of the patients undergoing these examinations. This workshop is being held for the second time in this Institute to take advantage of the newly equipped mobile van fitted with mammography and DEXA scanner donated by RAD-AID International provided under Asha Jyoti Women’s Health outreach programme for screening of breast cancer and osteoporosis. In addition to mammography and DEXA scan there is one digital colposcopy in the van for cervical cancer screening. After successful experience of this workshop in future more such workshops are in the pipe line to train the young radiographers in this aspect.
