Mumbai – July 28, 2008 : Union Bank of India has been awarded Prizes under Reserve Bank Rajbhasha Shield Competition 2006-07, which is introduced by RBI for promotional use of Hindi in Public Sector Banks/Financial Institutions.
A function was arranged on 28th July, 2008 at Reserve Bank of India to distribute the Prizes. Union Bank of India has been awarded two prizes for its excellent performance in linguistic regions ‘A’ and ‘B’. Shri Y.V. Reddy, Governor RBI awarded the Prizes. It was received by Shri R.S. Reddy, Executive Director, Union Bank of Indsia, on behalf of the Bank. Shri S.M. Nasir, General Manager, Union Bank of India was also present on the occasion.
Union Bank has a history of being a front-runner in implementation of Official Language. The Bank has been recipient of Indira Gandhi Shield, RBI shield and various Regional Rajbhasha Shields awarded by Home Ministry, Govt. of India and TOLICs.
It is worth mentioning that Union Bank of India has connected all its branches under CBS and adopted ‘Script Magic’ software with a view to provide the facility of using Hindi language in CBS.
