Chandigarh, October 10 : Pracheen Kala Kendra will organize its 169th Baithak Programme on October 11, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. featuring Delhi-based Sitar virtuoso Subrata De. The programme will be held at Bhaskar Rao Indoor Auditorium of the Kendra, Sector 35/B, Chandigarh.
Born at Jamshedpur, Subrata De was initiated to learn the art of Sitar at the tender age of seven under the guidance of Shri Amarjeet Singh and later he learnt intricacies of this instrument Sh. Bauri Bandhu Sethi. Finally he was groomed by Sitar maestro Pandit Mani Lal Nag. Under his guidance he learnt gayaki style, tantrakari, alapang, gatkari, etc. of Vishnupur gharana.
Now, he is hailed as one of the promising Sitarists of young generation. Subrata’s melodious tone, aesthetic unfolding of Ragas, enchanting rhythmic variation have developed his sensational baaj. His Sitar playing is marked by a combination of both “Gayaki Anga” and “Tantrakari” presented in a meditative mood.
An empanelled artiste of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Subrata has devoted himself to the eternal waves of Hindustani classical music. His spell bound performances in India and abroad including Switzerland, Finland, USA, Austria, Holland, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Denmark, Hong Kong, South Koera, etc. have earned him great name and fame.
