By Madhup. 17th Dec: With an exciting new venture for the development of international acting talent into the prestigious Stella Adler Studio of Acting School in New York has granted a license to L.C.A. Communications Pvt. Ltd., to open the first ever Stella Adler Studio of Acting School (under license) in India, home of the burgeoning Indian film industry. The Stella Adler Studio of Acting School in India will now open for registration and will be launched in January 2011. At the press conference were renowned actors Sunny Deol, Randhir Kapoor, eminent filmmakers Prakash Jha and Sudhir Mishra and singing legend Suresh Wadkar, lending their support and patronage to the first Indian branch of the world-famous Stella Adler Studio of Acting based at Ajivasan, next to SNDT Women’s University, Santacruz.
The Stella Adler Studio of Acting School in India will be run by veteran Bollywood Director Rahul Rawail who has more than 20 films to his credit including, Betaab, Love Story, Anjaam, Bekhudi, Arjun Pantit, Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya, Kuch Khatte Kuch Meethee and Jo Bole So Nihaal. Mr.Rawail is keenly interested in the development of young talent. As CEO of the Institute in India, he hopes to offer the next generation of talented Indian actors the chance to compete globally as the country continues to export more of its films and its stars to the international market.
While speaking on this occasion, CEO of Stella Adler Studio Acting School, Rahul Rawail said, “I am extremely happy to see Stella Adler Studio of Acting School in India, and I’m really proud to be associated so closely with it. For prospective actors from India, training in Acting abroad, disassociates them from Indian Cinema. Our training modules have been adapted for India. The other problem is the cost and formalities of studying in New York. Now the same standard of education is available in India.”

Stella Adler’s method, based on use of the actor’s imagination, has been studied by many renowned actors, such as Marlon Brando, Robert De Niro, Anthony Quinn, Kevin Costner, Sidney Pollock, Salma Hayek, James Coburn, Warren Beatty, Martin Sheen, Benicio Del Toro, Peter Bogdanovich, Robert Evan, Karl Malden, Diane Baker, Candice Bergen, Harvey Keitel, John Philip Law, Judge Reinhold, Eva Marie Saint, John Saxon, Daniel Selznick, Jessica St. John, Holland Taylor, Leigh Taylor-Young, Melanie Griffith, John Saxon amongst other eminent actors. Marlon Brando, who served as the studio’s Honorary Chairman until his death, was replaced by another pupil Warren Beatty. The Stella Adler School of Acting, New York, is headed by her grandson, Tom Oppenheim, who also serves as the President and Artistic Director of the school.
The world’s most well-known acting school having trained many Hollywood legends such as Anthony Quinn, Warren Beatty and Candice Bergen. With the opening of The Stella Adler Studio of Acting School at all three locations would work in tandem with each other providing a wider option for prospective actors.
