Chandigarh, Dec 13- Haryana Government has decided to launch Sports and Physical Aptitude Test (SPAT)-2013 in three phases. Its first round would be organised by all government, semi government and private schools in Haryana from December 20, 2012 to January 5, 2013.
A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting held here today under the chairmanship of Principle Secretary, Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Mr. Hardeep Kumar.
It was also decided that participation of every student in the SPAT would be ensured. The second phase would be organised at block level at Rajiv Gandhi Rural Sports Complexes of the State between January 28 and February 6,2013.
The third phase would be organised between February 10 and 15,2013 at district headquarters. He said that only those players who would qualify in second phase could participate in third phase. A meeting of assistant education officers and physical training instructors of all the districts would be organised on December 15,2012 for the successful organisation of first, second and third phase of SPAT. He said that on December 17,2012 all block education officers would organise meeting of principals and teachers of their concerned block so as to ensure participation of students of all educational institutes. Also, officers of Sports and Youth Affairs Department would participate in this meeting.
Under the SPAT, 5000 players would be given scholarships. Players falling in the age group of eight to 14 years and age group of 15 to 19 years would be given Rs 1500 and Rs 2000 per month as scholarship.
Those present in the meeting included Principal Secretary, School Education, Mrs Surina Rajan,Director General Sports and Youth Affairs, Mr Sudhir Rajpal and other senior officers of Sports and Youth Affairs Department and Education Department.
