It is believed to be a new beginning in making of sequels of regional movies as sequels of Hollywood and Bollywood movies has been made and released so far.
First sequel of Haryanvi cinema is being released as a next episode of the super hit ‘Chandrawal’ which was directed 28 years ago. In the beginning phase, Chandrawal-II would be released in all big cinema and multiplexes in Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. It had also been planned to release movie in other states of the country including Rajashtan and Mumbai.
Producer and actress of ‘Chandrawal’ Mrs. Usha Sharma said that this was the fifth Haryanvi movie made under the banner of Prabhakar Films, which is well known for ‘Chandrawal’, other hit movies released under the banner like Laado Basanti (1985), Phool Badan (1986) and Jaatni (1991) were highly appreciated in north India. Now, people have many expectations from ‘Chandrawal-II’, she added.
The most important key of Chandrawal-II was its music. According to Co-producer and Director the movie Mr. Nishant Prabhakar, ‘Chandrawal remains an evergreen music hit of Haryanavi Cinema and now it is relevant that people have much more expectation from the music of sequel. The music of movie is quite good which truly reflects the story of the movie. Songs of the movie was based on the compositions of well-known Haryanavi litterateur late Mr. Devi Shankar Prabhakar. Music was composed by famous musician Mr. Uttam Singh who had given music in superhit movies like ‘Dil to Pagal Hai’, ‘Gadar’ and Baghbaan’. The songs have the voices of famous singers like, Udit Narayan, Shaan, Richa Sharma, Smita Adhikar (Indian Ideal fame), Sonu Kakkar and Anupma Deshpandey.

According to the response received so far, he said, the fans has highly appreciated songs ‘Desa Me Desh Haryana, Jit Doodh Dahi ka Khana’ as the song is being seen as theme song of Haryana State. Even today, the reference of Haryana has given on this slogan which is a composition of late Devi Shankar Prabhakar. He said that this poem was composed by Mr. Prabhakar in year 1950. Since then, it had been continuously used with reference to prosperity of Haryana.
He informed that all songs have been shooted in the best way keeping in view the Haryanavi folk dance and culture, they are choreographed by Lila Saini which had been connected to Haryanvi folkdance for a long time.
Referring to film sequel, Mr. Prabhakar said that it was very challenging to work again with 28 years old story, accepting the challenge we announced for film direction in year 2010. Thereafter, discussion and good trends in people had inspired us to move forward. By that time we only knew that we have to carry the story forward, but, How?, really it was a difficult task. Here, Mrs. Usha Sharma, main actress of Chandrawal and Producer of the movie guided us.
It is true that story of the movie was beginning from the same where it concluded, but as per new scenario, the story takes such twists which would defiantly attract the audiences. More research had been made on screen especially on dialogs. It had also taken care that people having little knowledge of Haryanvi could understand this. Haryanvi language is being victimized due to increasing slovenliness as a result of which its access is very limited.
Mr. Prabhakar said that even today Chandrawal holds a unique identity in Haryana life. The objective to make the sequel was to give Haryanavi culture the right identity. Chandrawal was considered as a milestone in regional languages films. This movie was released when Haryanavi Film Udyog was almost on the verge of extinction. Chandrawal had beat many contemporary super hit hindi movies of that time and had set many records in popularity in north India. Today, Haryanvi Film Udyog is passing through the same round. With a view to rejuvenate the Haryanvi Film Udyog, which is silent from last two decades, Prabhakar Films is going to start a new innings.
