Chandigarh: Mr. Satya Pal Jain, Ex-City MP and National Incharge of the Legal & Legislative Cell of the BJP has stressed the need of a large scale awareness campaign in our society about Cancer, with a view to curtail this highly catastrophic disease. Mr. Jain said that since in case a patient comes to know of cancer at the initial stage itself he can be completely cured, therefore it is necessary that wide spread awareness of its symptoms be done, so that the affected person can approach the doctor, immediately upon noticing any of them.
Mr. Jain was speaking as Chief Guest in a Seminar on “Cancer Awareness” organized by the Press Information Society of India, in the Chandigarh Press Club last evening.
Mr Jain said that though today almost all types of cancers are curable, but still this disease has the most frightening psychological impact on the patient. He said that it is the need of the hour that people are educated about the causes of cancer like smoking, use of tobacco, etc. etc. and they are persuaded to remain away from them. He said that in the case of cancer, the prevention of the causes is equally important as the cure.
On this occasion, three cancer experts Dr. B.D. Gupta, Dr. J. P. Wigh and Dr. Rajiv Kapur gave their presentation about various aspects of cancer. They advised the audience that early detection and timely treatment prevent growth of the disease and cure the patient. Delay always proves dangerous.
Mr. V.P. Sharma, Chairman, PRSI, Chandigarh Chapter told that the Society was formed primarily to groom aspiring PR professionals. Mr. Davesh Moudgil, BJP MC, and Prof. Ashutosh Kapila were also present on this occasion.
Two meritorious students Ms. Amandeep Kaur Dhindsa and Mr. Sourav Chawla of Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan, Chandigarh were felicitated by the Sh. V.P. Sharma, Chairman, PRSI, Chandigarh Chapter for their outstanding performance in exams of Mass Communication and PR. They were given mementos and certificates of excellence.
