In the ladies finals of the 28th Chandigarh State Billiards and Snooker Championship India No. 2 Saniya Arif defeated Priyanka Gupta 2-0 (60-31, 55-15). Initially the first frame was evenly balanced but Saniya played well to win the frame. In the second frame Priyanka was leading by 10 points but Saniya bounced back with a break of 16 to finally win the match. Both players have qualified for the forthcoming nationals to be held in Pune in January 2012.
Stephanian, Ranveer Duggal trounces Faraz Arif to enter Semi finals
Seven years old – wonder boy Ranveer Duggal, a class one student of St. Stephens School beat senior schoolmate Faraz Arif a seventh class student of St Stephens School 2-1 ( 50-41, 43-50, 50-47) in the sub-junior billiards category. In the first frame Ranveer lead right from the start and finished the frame with a margin of 9 points. In the second frame both the junior cueists played well and managed to win the frame. In the final frame Faraz was leading by 15 points when Ranveer came back with a break of twelve points, this break proved to be the turning point of the frame and the match. Ranveer has now entered Semi-finals where he will face seventeen year old Chandan Gulati. Worth mentioning here that a couple of days earlier the child prodigy had toppled Chandan in junior (under-21) snooker match in this championship.
