Ludhiana, Nov 11: Royal Kings USA dominated the match against Lahore Lions to post a comfortable 60-51 win in the second game on Tuesday in the Wave World Kabaddi League.
In the first match on Tuesday Vancouver Lions shocked California Eagles to keep alive their hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals as they won 68-62.
Lahore Lions’ loss in the second match was a big setback for them as they only have a slim chance of qualifying for the semi-finals. With three teams already at 20 or more points, Lahore Lions cannot afford any more losses in their remaining four matches.
As things stand, Khalsa Warriors lead with 31 points, while United Singhs have 22. California Eagles have 20 and Punjab Thunder have 19 with Vancouver at 16. Lahore Lions have 14 points and Royal Kings (13 from 19 matches) and Yo Yo Tigers (9 from 17 matches) are out of reckoning.
Inspite of their loss, the Man of the match award went to Rehman Isteyaq (18 raids) while Yadwinder Singh (8 stops) was the star in defence. Tajinder Singh of Royal Kings also emerged as the Sonalika Power Raider of the day.
For Royal Kings, raiders Gurlal, Kamaljit and Tajinder were the stars and their stopper, Yadwinder Singh ensured Lahore Lions never got the edge.
After opening a 19-10 lead in first session, Royals stayed ahead at 30-27 despite a great fight from Lahore Lions.
Into the third session, Royals focused on keeping the edge and kept adding points from raids and stops to move to 46-40 and finally wrapped up the game 60-51.
