CHANDIGARH, SEPT 27 : Rishika Sunkara of India advanced to the singles quarter-final and doubles semi-finals of the $ 10,000 ITF Women”s Tennis Tournament being played in Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt).
Top seed Rishika exhibited brilliant tennis to blank Linda Dubska of Czech Republic in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 in the singles pre-quarter-final match. In quarter-final, Rishika will be challenged by Russian Viktoriya Bogoslovskaya who ousted sixth seed Karina Venditti (Brazil) 6-3, 6-3.
In doubles quarter-final, Rishika Sunkara partnered Ipek Soylu (Turkey). The seeded India-Turkey pair disposed of the challenge of Ashmitha Easwaramurthi (Ind) and Brenda Njuki (Swe) 6-2, 6-2.
In another doubles quarter-final match Shivani Manchanda (Ind) and Anabel Ossombi (Ukr) were beaten by Viktoriya Bogoslovskaya (Rus) and Evgeniya Svintsova (Rus) 6-0, 6-1.
Anjana Kompally of India and Marcela Alves Pereira Valle of Brazil made their exit from the doubles as second seeded pair of Giulia Bruzzone (Ita) and Karina Venditti (Bra) moved into semi-final with a 6-2, 6-0 verdict..
