The India Post,13th August : FPA India Panchkula Branch in collaboration with the Inner Wheel Club of Panchkula organized a Nutrition Programme under Breast Feeding Week today i.e. 12th August 2008 in its Reproductive Health & Family Planning Center (RHFPC), # 62-C, village Haripur, Sector 4, Panchkula. The programme was attended by 53 ANC/PNC Women.
The programme was chaired by Mrs. Savita Jindal, President, Inner Wheel Club of Panchkula. Mrs. Adarsh Chand, Editor, Mrs. Sween Goal, Treasurer, and Mrs. Geeta Sawhny, Secretary of the Inner Wheel Club were the guests of honour at the programme.
Dr Daisy Topno, Medical Officer of the Branch spoke on Importance of Breast Feeding. She told that the Breast Feeding is a complete diet for the new born. Within one hour the new infant should be given mother’s milk. She further told that after six months the child should be given extra diet also. She stressed on balanced and nutritious diet to pregnant mothers and briefed on the deficiencies occur in the absence of Vitamin A, B, C and D. She explained in what conditions the mother’s mild should be avoided i.e. when mother is taking any medicines, or hormones, mother is smoking or drinking, mother is TB or Cancer patient and taking medicines of TB or Cancer etc.
Mr. D. V Gautam, Field Coordinator, briefed the participants on the services available at the RHFPC. Mrs. Bhupesh ANM of the Branch gave a demonstration of Chana Chat. Mrs. Mandeep Kaur, Staff Nurse briefed the women on Balanced and nutritious diet during pregnancy and importance of immunization. She advised to avoid Fats during pregnancy.
During interactive session the queries of the participants were met by the staff of the Branch. Mrs. Savita Jindal, President and the members Inner Wheel Club Panchkula distributed Channa Packet to the participants.
