CHANDIGARH, SEPT 24 Renu Sharma upset Trannum Handa in a marathon three set match that lasted more than three hours in the Rs 1 lakh CLTA-AITA Open Tennis Tournament at the Sector 10 Tennis Stadium here today. Renu Sharma won the 1st set 7-5. Then top seed Trannum Handa rallied to win second set in identical score. In the final set Renu Sharma played solid tennis to close out at 6-1.
In another match Riya Bhatia upset 8th seed Megha Sherawat 6-1, 6-2. Shruti Dhawan continued her winning streak by defeating Rizvi Shamreen without losing a game. CLTA trainee Gayatri Kumaraiah defeated another CLTA trainee Pious Mudgil 6-0, 6-3. In the men’s singles 1st round seeded players Brahmjot Singh, Lakshit Sood, Chandril Sood, Vijay Kanan and Rubal Shandilya moved into second round without facing any resistance. Earlier in the morning Ajay Yadav,Vikrant Dahiya, Rahul Seth, Jajbir Singh, Gurvinder Singh, Anush Dheer Singh, Rohan Bhatia and Manav K.
