CHANDIGARH, DEC 5 : Top seed Prajnesh Gunneswaran defeated fifth seed Ronit Singh Bisht in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 in one hour and 37 minutes in the singles final of the HTA–ITF Men’s Futures US$ 10,000 Tennis Tournament at Harvest Tennis Academy courts in Jassowal, 30 km from Ludhiana on Saturday.
It was second win for left-handed 26-year-Gunneswaran over 19-year-old Ronit Singh Bisht in international tournament this year. Earlier they had one victory each in third year.
With 71 per cent of his first serve in, Gunneswaran had an upper hand in both sets. The top seeded had two aces to his credit but committed four double faults. Ronit Singh Bisht made one double fault and had fired one ace.
Gunneswaran won total 67 points and Ronit got 52 points. Gunneswaran won three of six break points while Ronit converted just one break point out of four.
Former Vice Chancellor of Punjab Agriculture University Dr. Manjit Singh Kang was the chief guest and distributed the prizes.
