Optometrists Association Chandigarh (OAC) celebrated its 1st Foundation Day with the release of the 1st ever directory of the Optometrists of the tri-city region by the veteran Optometrist, Optom. Rajinder Manocha. In conjunction to the occasion, OAC organised its 2nd CME titled “Optometrists: the sight givers” at GMCH-32, Chandigarh. It was well attended by around 70 Optometrist professionals from the Institutions like PGI, GMCH, GMSH, Sohana Eye Hospital and other renowned clinics of the tri-city region of Chandigarh, Mohali & Panchkula. The event started with the welcome address by the President OAC, Optom.
Anil Kumar Kalia in which he stressed on the need to keep ourself updated with the latest in the field of Optometry. The CME commenced with a talk by the senior optometrist Optom. P Singh on ‘Practical tips of fitting Progressive addition lenses’ which was followed by the inspirational lecture on ‘Vision Optometry’ by Optom. Nirmal Singh.
General Secretary OAC, Optom. Kamal Pant highlighted the very aim of the association ‘to promote optometry and render optometric services to the community’. As per World Council of Optometry (WCO), an Optometrists are “the primary healthcare practitioners of the eye and visual system who provide comprehensive eye and vision care, which includes refraction and dispensing, the detection/diagnosis and management of diseases in the eye, and the rehabilitation of conditions of the visual system”
