BARWALA (PANCHKULA), DEC 14 :A fine knock of 45 by Narinder Walia helped Godrej Cricket Club defeat Inscol XI by six wickets in the inaugural match of the Vth Girish Nayyar Memorial League Cricket Tournament, being organised by Chandigarh Sports Club at JP Institute of Cricket Technology Stadium here today.
Batting first after winning the toss, the openers gave Inscol XI a fine start as they put on 58 runs in 11 overs. After the dismissal of the openers in consecutive overs, the remaining Inscol batsmen played very slow and the team managed just only 122 for 4 in stipulated 25. Rajesh was the highest scorer with 38 runs. Manav Asopa picked two wickets for 18 runs. Neeraj Rana and Vijaypal got wicket each.
In reply, Godrej CC were off to a quick start. The openers realised 35 runs in six overs before Yash Kapila was unfortunately run out. But the other batsmen continued to make runs at a brisk pace and got to the target with ease and 6 overs to spare.
Narinder Walia was the highest scorer as he made 45 valuable runs for the team and accelerated the innings towards the end.

In another low scoring match, Numero Uno XI faced a humiliating defeat at the hands of Azzaro XI who romped home to a 10-wicket victory in just 10 overs. The Azzaro XI bowlers did well in restricting Numero XI to 106 for 8 in 25 overs. On the other hand of Numero Uno bowlers gave away 20 extras.
