CHANDIGARH, OCT 3 : Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association defeated Baroda by 45 runs in the 20th All India J.P. Atray Memorial Cricket Tournament at the Government College ground in Ropar today.
The match was interrupted due to rain from 1.45 pm to 4.00 p.m and the Baroda team was given a revised target of 135 runs in 21 overs via D/L Method. Baroda made a disastrous start losing half their side for 34 in 6.4 overs. They could finally muster 90 for 9 in 21 overs and lost the match by 45 runs. Sunit Singh unbeaten 16 off 21 balls with one fours and one six and Baba Khan unbeaten 17 off 23 balls with one four and one six added 34 runs for the unbroken 10th wicket stand.
Ankit Sharma (4 for 28) and Kulpreet Singh (2 for 11) were the most successful bowlers for MPCA.
Earlier, Baroda won the toss and opted to field. However, they could muster only 215 in 49.3 overs. They opened with A.Samad and Shan-E-Alam who added 29 runs for the first wicket before A.Samad was caught by Hardik of Baba Khan for 13. Shan-E-Alam left soon after being cleaned up by Baba Khan for 11.
Thereafter Ashutosh Singh (25) and Shiv Raj Singh (20) added 34 runs for the 4th wicket. Then Parth Sahney (48, 4x4s, 1×6) and Sanjay Mishra (45, 5x4s, 1×6) added 55 runs for the sixth wicket. Later on Sanjay Mishra partenered Ankit Sharma (23) for the 7th wicket stand of 43 runs. For Baroda Swapnil Singh (4 for 41), Baba Khan (3 for 43) and Sumit Singh (2 for 41) were the main wicket takers.
Ankit Sharma of MPCA was named man of the match.
