Chandigarh, 12th Oct 2011: LG Electronics India, country’s no.1 Home Appliances Company with the highest market share of 38.1% in the Microwave Ovens (Source: GFK Report Aug’11), today rolled out the Grand Finale – National Round of the Mallika-e -Kitchen Cooking Contest 2011 at Hotel Marriott, Chandigarh.
This is the third successive year of LG’s Mallika-E-Kitchen Cooking Contest, India’s biggest amateur chefs cooking competition that provided yet another opportunity to women of the country to showcase their culinary skills at a national level. Mallika-E-Kitchen is a three Stage cooking contest which was organised nationwide over a period of three months starting Jun ’11 onwards. This year, the contest was organized in around 100 cities seeking participation from around 5000 contestants
The Grand Finale of “Mallika-e-kitchen 2011” was a live show of exhilarating cooking skills being showcased by the contestants. All contestants were asked to cook a Main Course dish within a time span of 90 minutes in LG Convection Microwave oven. The whole idea was to promote Healthy Cooking through the new innovative range of MWOs by LG Electronics India.
After the tough competition of talent and skills, winners were selected based on predefined parameters related to taste, texture and innovation. The “Mallika-e-kitchen” Cooking Contest was judged by Cooking Connoisseur & Mentor Ms. Nita Mehta and Chef Neelesh Limaye, widely known for his cookery show ‘Aamhi Saare Khavayye’ on Zee Marathi. Three winners were selected. The 1st national Winner was Mrs. Mona Garg from Jaipur,Rajasthan was rewarded with 50 inches LG Plasma TV. The 2nd and 3rd winner was Ms. Mehak A M elwani from Pondicherry, Tamilnadu and Ms. Nibedita Sarangi from Bhuwneshwar,Orissa were rewarded with 42 inches and 32 inches LG Flat Panel Display TV respectively.

This year we have launched Charcoal Heater Microwave Oven which is the World’s first into the country, with this new range we are targeting 40% share with a marketing investment of Rs. 20 crore in this category.”
Speaking about the contest, Ms. Nita Mehta and Chef. Neel, said, “We are glad to announce the winners of the grand finale. It is very exciting experience to see such talented women coming from different parts of India to participate in this contest. The judgment was really difficult as everybody presented their best.”
Mrs. Mona Garg of Jaipur, Rajasthan, National winner said at her Grand Victory “It is a great platform to present your culinary skills and passion for food. I would like to extend my deep appreciation to LG, for making the event of this scale possible.”
