CHANDIGARH, MAY 17 : Keeping in tune with AFC Grassroots Day’s motto of ‘Enjoy The Game’, Minerva Academy FC celebrated the Grassroots Day in three venues in Chandigarh over two days in a fun-filled environment, in association with St. Stephen’s School, Sector 45.
On May 15 Minerva took the ‘Beautiful Game’ to over 200 kids and parents at the Sector-17 Stadium, Minerva Academy ground and at the St. Stephen’s School. All the centres witnessed around 75 kids each indulging in fun-filled small sided games, dribbling and juggling competitions.
The same was repeated again on May 16 at the Sector-17 Stadium as many kids couldn’t attend the festival on May 15
Playing sports is not only important for kids for their physical or social benefits but also because of the fun they have. Grassroots football plays an important role in keeping the spark alive in children while engaging them in fun-filled activities.
It also educates the parents about the importance of letting children have the fun element while playing rather then forcing them into compulsion.
On both the days, the event started in the morning and continued into the noon.
“This is the first time we have celebrated the AFC Grassroots Day and it’s really worth. Seeing kids so happy with football is something we live for. I am sure, this two-day event will ring a Bell of Change in Chandigarh Football circuit, specially among the kids,” said club director Ranjit Bajaj.
Ranjit also urged the parents not to confine their kids indoors with things like Video games or cartoon.
“I would also like to request the parents not to keep kids indoor and hook them to TVs and Video Games. Let them come out and play, it doesn’t matter which game they play. But let them come out of the house and play,” Ranjit concluded.
Meanwhile, Minerva will be organising the ‘Champions’ Summer Camp’ – a month long camp, which will be open for all.
