Chandigarh, October 29, 2013 : Keeping up with the tradition of sportsmanship, Swami Vivekanand Group of Institutes (SVGOI) today organized its 7th Annual Athletic Meet which witnessed the overhelming participation of over 450 students atheletes. The event was inaugurated by the Rajinder Singh (IPS), Additional Director General of Police, Punjab State Human Right Commission in the presence of college management. The programme commenced with the march past. Delivering the Inaugural address, Rajinder Singh urged the students to use the college level Sports meet as a launch pad for their sporting career.
The students participated in various activities includes 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 1500 meters, and Relay race, Tug of War, Short put, Long Jump, High Jump and indoor games like Chess and Carrom.
Lauding the efforts and enthusiasm of participants, Sh. Ashwani Garg, Chairman of (SVGOI) congratulated the winners. He emphasized that sports cross all kinds of boundaries including race, age, belief and even helps to strengthen networks. Sh. Ashok Garg, President of (SVGOI) shared that SVGOI takes much pride in organizing Athletics Meet annually. He feels such events play a big role in the development of self – respect and self- discipline. Through their participation, students can develop an appreciation of sport, recreation and exercise as part of a healthy, balanced lifestyle.
