CHANDIGARH, JAN 6 : Ahead of IPL season 8, Kings XI Punjab, today announced the launch of their new initiative called ‘Play for Kings – the road to Kings Cup’. The initiative will provide a platform to cricketers via digital and on ground selections, to earn a chance to play for the ’Kings Cup’ and ‘You v/s Star’ events organized by the franchise ahead of IPL 8.
This initiative is organized in association with TSD Corporation and the selection process commenced today and continue till March 8, based on digital activation along with on ground trials. Aspiring cricketers from all over India will be eligible to take part in the campaign.
In order to participate in the contest, the participants can register themselves online. The participants can also link their videos on social media platforms and then invite Kings XI Punjab fans to vote for their favourite #PLAYFORKINGS participant. The videos will be shortlisted by program official coaches.
In addition, an on ground training and selection camp will be held for 100 players shortlisted from all the entries. The top 100 entries will be further streamlined and final 32 will be selected who will play in the ‘Kings Cup’. As a part of the gratification, the winning team will further earn a chance to participate in ‘You vs. Star’ activation where they will get an opportunity to bowl or bat against their favorite Kings XI Punjab cricketing stars.

IPL season 7 was fantastic for us not just on field but off field as well. We connected with our fans and supporters through various interactive activities and we intend to continue doing so in the coming season as well. With ‘Play for Kings’, we are collaborating both digital and on ground spaces to reach out to budding cricketers with the intention of providing an opportunity to showcase their skills. This will also allow us to further connect with our fans beyond the catchment area and make them a part of the Kings XI Punjab family. We would like to wish all the participants luck and hope some extraordinary talent emerges from this program.”
Kings XI Punjab is a part of the eight competing teams promoted by Indian Premier League (IPL). It is held and promoted by a consortium, which includes Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia, Preity Zinta and Karan Paul.
