INDORE, NOV 19
Jui-Chen Hung caused a mild upset as the Taipei player shocked fifth seeded Ranjeet Virali-Murugesan in three sets in the singles first round match in the $ 15,000 ITF Men’s Futures Tennis Tournament here today. Hung lost the first set at 6-1 but quickly adjusted his game and staged a fine rally to overcome seeded Ranjeet.
Jui-Chen Hung won the next two sets by 6-3, 6-4 and the match to advance to the second round where his opponent will be Vishnu Vardhan who ousted Aaditya Tewari with a comfortable margin of 6-1, 6-2.
Purav Rana surrendered the first set without winning even a single game (0-6) against Markos Kalovelonis of Greece. However, Purav Raja matched his opponent in departments of the game but went down fighting in tie-breaker in the second set. With 7-6 (5) win in second set, Karkos moved into second round where he is pitted against eight seeded Indian Ramkumar Ramanathan who accounted for Garvit Batra in straight sets 6-2, 6-4.
In a tough match among foreigners, David Pel of Netherlands ousted Timon Reichelt of Germany in three sets 6-4 4-6 6-3.
