MOHALI, DEC 9 : The four-day Group A Ranji Trophy match between Punjab and Vidarbha ended in a draw with the latter gaining three points on the basis of their first innings lead of 176 and the hosts getting one point at the
Punjab Cricket Association Stadium here today.
The highlight of the match was two centuries –Ravi Jangid of Vidharbha (104) and Uday Kaul of Punjab (133). Jiwanjot Singh of Punjab slammed a double century with the help of 25 boundaries in Punjab’s second innings. Faiz Fazal missed century by one run in Vidarbha’s first innings and Akshay Kohkar scored 91 in Vidharbha’s second innings.
Resuming at their overnight score of 330 for 1, Punjab extended their second innings to 469 for 6 in 97 overs before declaring their innings closed.
Jiwanjot Singh, overnight 188 went on to complete his 200 in 217 balls and hit 25 boundaries. Uday Kaul, overnight 88 compiled 133 in 218 balls and hit 12 boundaries.
Required to score 294 runs for outright victory, Vidarbha made 186 for 3 with Kolhar scoring 91 and Shrivastava remaining not out on 60.
