27 July : IOC Disciplinary Commissions met today in Lausanne (Switzerland) on six pending doping cases from the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
The meetings were convened to deal with adverse analytical findings for Yudelquis Maridalin Contreras, Dominican Republic, who placed 5th in the 53kg category in weightlifting; Rashid Ramzi, Bahrain, gold medallist in 1500m, athletics; Davide Rebellin, Italy, silver medallist in the individual road race, cycling; Stefan Schumacher, Germany, individual road race, cycling; Athanasia Tsoumeleka, Greece, who placed 9th in the 20km race walk, athletics, and Vanja Parisic, Croatia, 800m, athletics.
The IOC Disciplinary Commission gave the athletes and their representatives the opportunity to be heard. The decision by the IOC will be taken in due course after deliberation.
