15 Sep : The young fashion designers have time until September 18th to tweak their designs before judgment day of being crowned as the winner of the much sought after title this Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai — The “INIFD Most Promising Designer Award.”
For the first time ever any Fashion Week has objectively partnered with an Education Institute of this size adding a fresh perspective to the Industry and space. INIFD, India premier fashion Design Institute, is the official knowledge partner for Lakme Fashion Week 2010 and has also instituted the said award of “INIFD most promising Designer”. This inspiring initiative by INIFD and Lakme Fashion Week 2010 stands as an iconic platform for young designers. This promotes an entry point for young aspirants into the most desired vocation in India, establishing their career path in front of the entire fashion fraternity hereon.
The winner of the Title shall not only compete amongst the contemporary genre of Designers but also get an opportunity to showcase their designs in front of the entire fashion fraternity in Mumbai during the Lakme Fashion Week 2010. Aspirants shall showcase their works on 19th and 21st September ’09 at 12 pm on the LFW stage. Following judgment the Emerging Designer and Gen Next category winner of the title will be felicitated with a cash price of Rs. 1, 00,000 by the Inter National Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD).
INIFD has been striving to bring fashion and style from the interiors of India to the forefront since its inception. With every passing year Lakme Fashion Week has seen 78% of the designer category applicants which are from outside of Mumbai. Therefore it was natural for INIFD to associate itself and recognize the talent and promote the said platform as it’s in line with the day to day initiative of INIFD brand.
Eight designers namely Amalraj Sengupta, Masaba Gupta (daughter of Neena Gupta), Mehak Jain (Beyond), Paromita Banerjee, Rahul Anand, Neha Agarwal, Sabbah Sharma and Shreya Sharma have made it to the final cut. The ultimate winner will be selected on the basis of various parameters of style and aesthetics, by two coveted judges Ashley Rebello, star fashion designer and fashion stylist, Rahul Mishra famous fashion designer and Mahek Chhal, Star of Salman Khan’s much awaited release “Wanted”
INIFD has always taken steps to encourage young design talent and this prestigious award ‘INIFD Most Promising Designer Award’ is a step forward to celebrate and advance Fashion Designers and to appreciate the talent of the young stylish innovators. By recognizing and awarding a designer from amongst Gen Next or Emerging Designer brand INIFD endorses its stand for budding designers and their scintillating creativity.
INIFD will crown the winner of the title at an exclusive felicitation ceremony at Lakme Fashion week and hand over the cash prize of Rs. 1 Lac. The LFW advisory board have applied strict parameters of quality, innovation, marketability & commercial viability and eventually shortlisted only 8 designers i.e. 6 Gen Next plus 2 Emerging designers out of 125 applicants.
