GOA, JAN 27 :Banking on the dazzling performance of Joginder Singh (18) and Vishesh Bhriguvanshi (17), Indian men captured the basketball trophy after beating Angola by 77-70 points in the final of the Lusofonia Games here today. India were leading by 34-30 at the end of third quarter. However, Angola put up good display and managed a slender three points lead (53-50). The fourth and final quarter became a do-or-die affair for India. The hosts reorganized their game. With Amjyot Singh also making a valuable contribution of 12 points India collected 27 points in reply to 17 by their opponents and clinched the trophy.
The Indian women cagers settled for a bronze medal.
