Jagpreet Sandhu,Chandigarh, November 18 : A hindi play ‘Andha Yug’ was performed on the stage of Punjab Kala Bhawan on Thursday by Alankar Theatre Group in the Sixth Annual Chandigarh Theatre Festival being organized by the Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi. The play was directed by Chakresh Kumar.
The play was written by Dharamveer Bharti, who was awarded Padma Shree for literature in 1972. He was a renowned Hindi poet, author, playwright and a social thinker of India.
The story of “Andha Yug” is based on the ancient Sanskrit epic, Mahabharata, written by Ved Vyasa . It explores human capacity for moral action, reconciliation, and goodness in times of atrocity and reveals what happens when individuals succumb to the cruelty and cynicism of a blind, dispirited age.
Relying on the aesthetic potential and experience of the actors and with relentless effort the young director Chakresh was able to collect appraisal from the crowd.
