Chandigarh administration has started health camps in various slum areas for creating awareness for RSBY —an health insurance scheme for BPL families. Health camp was organized in colony no. 5 in Govt. primary school on 13.2. 2011. More than 300 patients were examined and given medicines . The main motive of these camps is to identify RSBY SMART CARD holders and to refer them to hospitals empanelled under this scheme for free treatment of diseases covered under packages of this scheme, besides giving free treatment to
poor patients .On 6.2.2011 similar camp was organized in colony no 4. Another camp will be organized on 20.2.201111 in Palsora colny.
BY holding such camps,personal and individual attention is given to the poor patient . The patient is made aware of the benefits to be given for his illness under this scheme .The names of the beneficiaries identified on 13.2.11 camp are Surinder kumar ,Betulla Ansari ,Ram Murat,Modh. Yusuf .These patients have been referred to GMSH16 and GMCH32 for treatment.
RSBY is an health insurance scheme for poor patients for indoor hospitalisation only.Under this scheme BPL families have been issued RSBY SMART CARDS by paying only Rs 30 /. The sum insured for one family is Rs 30,000/.The family includes head of family ,spouse and three dependents. This sum insured is for one year per family. Maternity benefits are also covered under this scheme . In these health , card holders are advised to carry RSBYsmart cards along with them ,while approaching hospitals to make full use of this scheme.
Health department has given awareness training to all HODs of GMSH16 ,GMCH32 ,ANMs,MPWs to spread message of this social security of poor people -in form of health insurance amongst doctors , paramedics and general public. Lectures have been given in IMA Chd for awarenness among private practitioners .This annual insurance scheme is started from october 2010 .in chandigarh.
