CHANDIGARH, DEC 19 : The Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Department has decided to hold trials for the selection of Haryana hockey team for All India Civil Services Hockey Tournament to be hosted at Dronacharya Stadium, Kurukshetra from February 17 to 23.
All Head of Departments have been asked to send the employees or officers of their departments who are outstanding players to participate in the trial.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Department said that the trials for the selection of the team would be conducted under the supervision of hockey trainer, Shahbad, Virender Singh, District Sports and Youth Affairs Officer, Kurukshetra at Dronacharya Stadium on January 28, 2014 at 11 a.m.
He said that a team of 16 players would be selected for the tournament. The to and fro fare of the players for both trial and the tournament would be borne by the respective department. The training camp of the selected players would be organized at Dronacharya Stadium from February 10 to 16, 2014 Virender Singh would give training to the players.
The will also hold wrestling selection for the selection of Haryana team for All India Civil Services Wrestling Tournament 2013-14 to be organized at Navdeep Stadium, Narwana in district Jind from February 11 to 13, 2014. All Head of the Departments have been asked to send the employees or officers of their departments who are outstanding players of wrestling to participate in the trial.
The spokesman said that the trials would be held at Navdeep Stadium on January 28, 2014 at 11 a.m. under the supervision of District Sports and Youth Affairs Officer, Jind, Mr. Jugminder Singh.
The selected eight wrestlers will attend training camp at Navdeep Stadium from February 3 to 10 under the supervision of Jagdish Chander.
The department will also conduct selection trials to choose Haryana tennis Team for All India Civil Services Lawn Tennis Tournament 2013-14 to be organised at Chennai from January 18 to 23.
The spokesman said that the trials would be held at Ch. Devi Lal Sports Stadium, Panchkula on December 24 at 1100 a.m under the supervision of District Sports and Youth Affairs Officer D K Rana.
