Dr. Avnish Jolly, Chandigarh:FXB village program a low cost and self sustainable community based program has attracted the attention of people who are working and rendering their services in the field of HIV/AIDS. Currently going on Africa and India is considered to be complete program for the solution of problems of HIV affected and infected people. Program is an amalgamation of necessary components like income generation activities, medical care, education, professional training, nutritional support, psychological support, and HIV prevention and treatment.
Since program is community based, the selection of candidates is done on close interaction with Anti AIDS groups, Religious Community, People Living With HIV / AIDS, Associations, and heads of Community Groups.
Selection of families’ 80 – 90 families per village is done by taking following things in to consideration:
Degree of vulnerability (health status) of the beneficiaries.
Situation and integrity of the family hosting AIDS orphans.
Number of children receiving care.
Capacity and willingness shown by beneficiaries to achieve the program objectives.
Low cost US $172,500/- (Rs. Thirty Two Lac and Eighty Thousand) and decreasing investment on passing years has given tremendous successful result as good numbers of people have found their feet. Pooja Thakur, President Chandigarh network of Positive also appreciated the components of program as per her it will help positive people to lead the life of dignity and happiness. This program should be emulated in villages of Northern region by big corporate through their Corporate Social Responsibility as large number of AIDS infected and affected people need immediate support and care.
