11th Shri Ladly Sharan Memorial free deafness detection camp was jointly organized today by L.S.Institute of ENT and PAHAL (Public Awareness for Healthful Approach for Living). ENT Consultant Dr K K Sharan along with Dr Chardrashekhar and Dr Manoj Verma examined over 150 patients out of which free audiometry was done in 38 patients and 8 poor patients were distributed free of cost “Hearing Aid” provided by Dr Diwakar Tejaswi, Sudhakar Tapaswi, Vibhakar Yashaswi and Mr Anand Dwivedi. Dr K K Sharan informed that around 1200 patients have been benefitted till date by this camp and more than 112 hearing aid instruments are distributed so far to the needy. Also more than 15 patients have been operated upon for perforated tympanic membrane free of cost on the occasion and this year 5 poor patients will be operated.
Noted Physician and Convener of the camp, Dr Diwakar Tejaswi informed that this type of camp will be conducted in future also and keeping in mind the increasing number of deaf in society, deafness prevention awareness programme is needed. All infants also need to be screened for deafness so that corrective measures can be taken in time. Increasing sound pollution is contributing factor of deafness in Patna he added.
Noted Surgeon Dr Narendra Prasad inaugurated the camp and Dr R R Prasad was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Those who actively participated included Retired Civil Surgeons, Dr S P Ambastha, Dr Shankar Nath, President of PAHAL, Dr (Mrs) Kiran Sharan, Shri P D N Sinha and Sri Laldeo Singh.
