Chandigarh, October 30 –The Central Government will set up Football Academy at village Daryapur of Sirsa Parliamentary constituency to provide state-of-the-art sports facilities to the players of the football.
This was disclosed by Dr. Ashok Tanwar, MP from Sirsa Parliamentary constituency and National Secretary, All India Congress Committee, while addressing the people after declaring open the CBSE North Zone-cum-Cluster Football Championship at Maharaja Agrasen Public School, Fatehabad.
Dr. Tanwar and Mr. Prehlad Singh Gillakhera, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, laid the foundation stone of multi-purpose hall in the school on this occasion. Dr. Tanwar announced to give a grant of Rs. five lakh and Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Mr. Prehlad Singh Gillakhera Rs. one lakh to the school.
Dr. Tanwar said that the Central and State government were making all out efforts to motivate youth to choose sports as a career and to achieve this objective, sports academies and sports premises were being set up in the State. The State government had implemented a scheme of providing jobs to the outstanding sports persons to safeguard their future. As many as three per cent posts in government jobs had been reserved for the sports persons. During the period of last six years, as many as 398 sports persons were provided jobs on the basis of their achievements.
As many as 12 academies of different sports had already been set up in the State. Sports stadia were also being set up at village, block and district level to promote sports on large scale, he added.
Speaking on this occasion, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Mr. Prehlad Singh Gillakhera said that the State government was not only providing scholarships to the medal winners but also providing a monthly scholarship of Rs. 1500 to the players participating in the State level sports competitions. The players winning bronze medal in the State level competition are given a monthly scholarship of Rs. 2500, silver medal winners Rs. 3000 and gold medal winner Rs. 35000.The medal winners in national level competitions were given a monthly scholarship of Rs. 3000, Rs. 4000 and Rs. 5000 and medals winners in international level were given a months scholarship of Rs. 5000, Rs. 6000 and Rs. 7000 respectively. Additional monthly amount of Rs. 1000 was given to the women sports person as a incentive.
