Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), in collaboration with BTGT (Bridging The Gap Together) organized a one day Faculty development Program for ITIs at its Headquarters in sector 31 A, here today. This was the first program in a series of upcoming Faculty Development Programs by CII across the Region.
The experts shared and showcased some of the key interventions required to convert ITIs into ‘Learning Centers’, based on 3 years of research and workshops conducted by BTGT across the ITIs of the region. Around 50 teachers and principals from the tricity institutes attended the workshop.
Mr Y S Guleria, Co-Chairman, IMC Nalagarh & an active CII Member shared that ‘ An excellent and effective ITI stands on 6 pillars i.e Systemic thinking, Shared Vision, Team Learning, Personal Mastery and Mental Models. It is imperative to follow these to develop faculty as change agents, without which we it is impossible to attain desired levels of efficicency.
Today’s seminar gave a walk-through the three day interventions of the ‘Faculty as Change Agent’ workshop, which covered Role of Technology, Industry perspective, Trainee perspective and Personal Mastery. The methodology of the workshop includes techniques like self-reflection, journaling, group dynamic and goal setting. It also showcased the real time case study of BTGT implementing SJSRY Retail Sector training for BPL and EWS students of Chandigarh.
Mr Pikender Pal Singh, Regional Director, CII shared that “Skill development is one of the priority areas of CII. Faculty development and ITIs upgradation is a key to attain our goals of skilling the required number of people in next 5 years. Technical institutes and the industry should work in tandem and enter in meaningful interaction with special focus on long term projects. Today’s program was an initiative in this direction. Such programs sensitize the faculty about the recent developments, new challenges faced by the industry and solutions to various issues.
BTGT proposed the three phase solution towards making ITI as a Learning Organization which itself is a sustainable solution. BTGT also proposed that these interventions can be generalized for other Institutes also.
