Dr Mandeep S Dhillon current Head of Orthopaedics and Physical Medicine Departments at PGI Chandigarh has been awarded the Fellowship of the prestigious National Academy of Medical Sciences for the year 2011 in Orthopaedics. This comes as a culmination of 25 years of work in the field, with specialization in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy, as Dr Dhillon was a pioneer in this field and established this branch in PGI in 1990. The recognition is awarded to one orthopaedic surgeon from the country each year, and Dr Dhillon is one of the youngest orthopedic surgeons to be awarded this honour. He currently holds many academic positions as Editor of speciality journals, and is a sports medicine consultant to many National and International sports federations. He is the President of the N Z Indian Orthopaedic Association, Secretary of the Indian Arthroplasty Association and Council Member of the Asian Association for Dynamic Osteosynthesis. He has authored 4 books and has more than 270 publications to his credit
