Chandigarh May 7: Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda will confer Haryana Vigyan Ratna and Haryana Yuva Vigyan Ratna Awards to eminent scientists, engineers and doctors of the State for their outstanding contribution in the field of Science and Technology on May 8, 2012.
While giving this information here today, an official spokesman said that Haryana Science and Technology Minister Mr. Randeep Singh Surjewala would preside over the function which would be held at Haryana Niwas, Chandigarh.
He said that the awards would be conferred for the year 2010-11 and it was the first time when two awards would be given in each category.
He said that Haryana Vigyan Ratna awards for the year 2010-11 would be presented to Professor and Head of the Department of Pathology, Government Medical College Hospital, Sector-32, Chandigarh Dr. Harsh Mohan and Vice-Chairman, Max Healthcare, New Delhi Dr. S.K.S Marya.
Similarly, Haryana Yuva Vigyan Ratna awards for the year 2010-11 would be presented to Dr. Gitanjali Yadav and Dr. Mukesh Jain, both Staff Scientists at National Institute of Plant Genome Research, New Delhi.
The spokesman said that Haryana State Council for Science and Technology has a scheme to honour the eminent scientists, engineers and doctors of the State with Haryana Vigyan Ratna and Haryana Yuva Vigyan Ratna awards for their outstanding contribution in the field of Science and Technology. Haryana Vigyan Ratna award was presented to the eminent scientists, engineers and doctors above 40 years of age. The award carries a cash prize of Rs. one lakh, a citation and a trophy while the Haryana Yuva Vigyan Ratna award was given to eminent scientists, engineers and doctors up to 40 years of age. The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 50,000, a citation and a trophy.
