By Anuj Bhalla,CHANDIGARH- March 27, 2012: Dr. Anurag, Assistant Professor of Pharmacology (GuestFaculty), has been selected for a highly prestigious “Fafaelsen Young InvestigatorsAward 2012” by the International College of Neuro-Psychopharmacology, Scotland andwill be awarded at 28th CINP World Congress of Neuro-Psychopharmacology going to beheld from June 3 to 7, 2012 at Stockholm, Sweden. This prestigious award is given inthe memory of Late Professor Ole Rafaelsen, an eminent neuro-psychopharmacologist.
Dr. Anurag is the only Indian among five International awardees selected by an international scientific jury. The award consist of a certificate, a cash stipend including an element for ground transportation, up to four night accommodation, and waive-off registration fees at the 28th CINP Congress in Stockholm,Sweden. This award has been given for the research work entitled “Psychopharmacological effect of Naringin in Unpredictable Chronic Mild Stress Model of Depression: Behavioral, Biochemical & Neurochemical Evidences”.
The research work was done by Ms. Meenu Singla and Dr. Anurag under the esteemed mentorship of Professor Kanwaljit Chopra, Professor of Pharmacology at University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Panjab University. Moreover, International Brain Research Organization is providing him full travel funding (1200 USD) for attending the CINP Congress.
Dr. Anurag has an industrial experience of 2.5 years at Ranbaxy Research Laboratories Ltd., Gurgaon as a Research Scientist in the area of New Drug Discovery Research. He is teaching to undergraduate & postgraduate classes since October 2006 in the position of a guest faculty or temporary lecturer (2009-2011). He is a recipient of University Gold Medal in B. Pharm. From Guru Jambheshwar University, Hisar. He has published more than 30 research and 10 review articles in peer-reviewed national and international journals. He is also a recipient of “Young Investigator Award” a highly prestigious award at 3rd and 4th International Conference on Polyphenols and Health (ICPH-2007, ICPH-2009) held at Japan and England.
