The India Post, Chandigarh, 11th November, 2008 : For creating awareness regarding the purpose and mission of Red Ribbon Express project, which has been carrying out from last year throughout the whole country various competitions were organized by the Nehru Yuva Kendra.
In Chandigarh, the train will be reaching on November 16 and stay here up to November 17. The main purpose and vision of Red Ribbon Express train is to create awareness regarding causes and prevention of HIV/AIDS at grassroots level among the general masses of villages. In achieving this purpose, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Chandigarh is also coordinating with Education, Panchayati Raj, Sports, Health, Anganwaries and village level Youth Clubs for the better implementation of the programme.
Therefore, Nehru Yuva Kendra Chandigarh planned to organizing a number of programmes and to conduct rallies commemorating to Red Ribbon Express Programme in the all villages of UT Chandigarh in association with education department, village level youth clubs and teen clubs formed in the villages. The major programme is Rally, Painting and Poster-Making competition on several issues like Impact of HIV/AIDS, Environment-Safety, Drug-De-Addiction, Female Feticide and Population Explosion and etc. competition will be conducted at school level. These activities and competition will be conducted at school and village level and organized during the time period from 6th.11.08 to 14th .11.08.
On 6th and 7th November, the above said activities were organized with the target-intervened villages named Sarangpur (35 participants), Dhanas (25 participants), Khuda Lahora (38 participants), Khuda Jassu (40 participants), Indra Colony (35 participants). After conducting Poster-Making competition, the students participated in Ralley with enthusiasm and made the whole environment conscious regarding the purpose of Red Ribbon Express project.
