November 6 , Panchkula,By Jagpreet Singh Sandhu : Well performed and executed a play “ Court Martial “ was staged by Theatre for Theatre society at Atam Auditorium, Jainendra Gurukul, sector 1, Panchkula on Saturday evening. The play was the part of the 2nd TFT Oscar Theatre Festival. This was the 382nd stage show of the play. The play was written by Swadesh Deepak, who is a popular Indian playwright, novelist and short-story writer.
“ Court Martial “ was a play refuting the evil of casteism which is still prevalent not only in the society but evenly in a prestigious institution like Indian Army.
The drama depicted the story of Sawar Ram Chandra, who is victim of abuse and insult hurled on him by upper caste officer murders and injuring others. The Court Martial is presided by a war veteran. Col Surat Singh who has witnessed many ‘life –and –death’ situation. But this trial puts him in a queer position, so far unknown to him, and during the course of interrogation he realize that the issues at stake are much larger than what meets the eye. Court Martial presents a combination of legal and poetic justic.
