And this year, we have a dusky girl from kerela, Parvathy Omanakuttan representing the India. Hoping she does us proud like the other beauties like Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan, Diana Hayden,Yukta Mookhey and Priyanka Chopra.
Started in 1951, Miss world is viewed by 1 billion audiences across the world. The glory of India started in 1966 when Reita Faria won the crown for the first time. And well, there was no looking back after.
We get up, close and personal with Parvathy. A student of English literature, she loves to read & believes in helping others. After participating in several ramp shows and ad campaigns, this leggy decided take a professional jump into modelling. Parvathy has clinched the Femina Miss India title in the contest held in April this year. Standing 5 feet 9 inches tall, these 21- years- old is quite talented and is sure to win accolades with her intelligence.
During her preparations for the Miss World contest, which will happen on December 13 in Johannesburg, South Africa, she said, "There is lot of responsibility on my shoulders to uphold the name of the country. Apart from concentrating on my appearance, I am trying to be a stronger person to face the contest & I’ll try my best to make every Indian proud all over the world ".
This Miss World 2008 contest is going to be telecasted live on December 13 on Zee Cafe at 8:30 pm.
