CHANDIGARH 25th Nov; The bi-annual elections of the office bearers of PGI Employees Union (Group B, C and D) for the year 2011-13 have been held today through secret ballot. It was a direct contest for the eight posts of President, Sr. Vice President, Vice President, General Secretary, Secretary, Org. Secretary, Propaganda Secretary and Treasurer. More than 75% registered members of the Union exercised their franchise in the elections held through secret ballot. Total 1763 votes were polled.
Sh. Sunil Dutt Sharma, Assistant has been declared elected for the post of President by defeating his opponent Sh. Balraj Sharma, T.G. II by a margin of 460 votes. Sh. Sunil Dutt Sharma got 1088 votes against 628 polled to Sh. Balraj Sharma. 47 votes were decalred invalid. Sh. Krishan Chand Gupta, T.G.II got 1038 votes for the post of Sr. Vice President and defeated his opponent Sh. Rajiv Awasthi, Store Keeper by 390 votes, who got 648 votes, and 77 votes were declared invalid. Sh. Rajiva Kumar, Sr. Lab. Technologist has been declared elected as Vice President. Sh. Rajiva Kumar was polled 1047 votes and his opponent Sh. Jaswinder Singh, OT Assistant got 636. Sh. Rajiva Kumar defeated his rival by a margin of 411 votes. 80 votes were declared invalid Sh. R.K.Saini, UDC was polled 1062 votes for the post of General Secretary who defeated his opponent Sh. Dilbag Singh Jarial, Jr. Store Officer by a margin of 449 votes. Sh. Dilbag Singh has been polled 613 votes. Sh. Arvind Kumar, Sanitation Attendant got 1039 votes and has been declared elected as Secretary by defeating his rival Sh. Rajinder Kumar, Hospital Attendant by a margin of 412, who got 627 votes. 97 votes were declared invalid.
Sh. Ram Pal, Assistant defeated his rival Sh. Bhupinder Singh, Hospital Attendant by a margin of 407 votes for the post of Organising Secretary. Sh. Ram Pal got 1045 votes as against 638 polled to his rival and 80 votes were declared invalid. Sh. Ram Isher, Security Guard defeated Sh. Jagmohan, Security Guard by a margin of 400 votes. Sh. Ram Isher got 1038 votes whereas Sh. Jagmohan got 630 and 95 votes were declared invalid. Sh. Jagjeevan, Book Binder tasted victory by defeating Sh. Hoshiar Singh, Accounts Clerk by a margin of 344 votes on the post of Treasurer with 79 votes declared invalid. Sh. Jagjeevan got 1014 votes and Sh. Hoshiar Singh awas polled 670 votes.
Sh. Shanti Ram, Jr. Stores Officer, Chief Electoral Officer declared the results at about 8.30 P.M. today.
